Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. – Hebrews 11:1-6
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9
So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. – 1 Corinthians 2:5
Faith is venturing into the unknown, even what cannot be known by the limits of our own vision, thoughts, or desires. How then do we walk by it? I must forget what I think I know, essentially going spiritually blind, to make way for what I do not yet know of and from God. I must become unattached entirely to expectations or my own plans and step into uncertainty courageously, with my hope placed in the mystery of God’s good graces of not attempting to make anything go, but allowing God to go before me as I follow the often circuitous path that unfolds divinely in ceaseless prayer. The rewards are phenomena that come manifest directly from the Divine, not of our own doing. Listen for the courageous act that needs to be pursued or committed, as Peter stepped off the boat at Christ’s behest and took the leap of faith. Bless. – Shawn Greathouse
